Osso VR surgery training app available on Apple Vision Pro

Apple’s augmented reality headset will be used to run Osso Health, a medical teaching app with workflows for common treatments.

According to Osso VR, a virtual training business, Osso Health is now available. It is a surgical training app that will use the Apple Vision Pro to focus on popular orthopaedic procedures like total knee replacement and carpal tunnel release.

Osso VR is a tool for surgical training and testing that uses virtual reality. It lets users practice surgical skills in a fully realistic environment, either by themselves or with a team.

With its 3D interface, the Osso Health app lets users virtually perform medical treatments. With Apple Vision Pro’s location computing, users can walk through the most important steps of a process.

One can now get Osso Health from the App Store. With Osso Health for Apple Vision Pro, there are now fun and exciting alternatives to teach interactive processes. Apple Vision Pro’s high-tech screen and almost-lag-free learning experience make it possible to use spatial computing in healthcare in new capacities. This helps solve major problems in medical training, according to Dr. Justin Barad, co-founder and chief strategy officer at Osso VR.

In 2020, Kaiser Permanente Venture, Scrum Ventures, Leslie Ventures, SignalFire, and GSR Ventures, all put $14 million into Osso VR as Series A funds.

A year later, the San Francisco company raised $27 million Series B financing so it could add to its library and make its services better. It also added a multimodal testing tool that users can use to see how well they understand how processes work. Teachers and health systems can also keep track of a user’s growth with this tool.

Osso got a huge $66 million in Series C funding in 2022. Oak HC/FT, GSR Ventures, Tiger Global Management, SignalFire, and Kaiser Permanente Venture, all took part. The business said it would hire more people and give more people access to its teaching tools with the money.

In February, Greg Born became CEO of the virtual reality company. Born was chosen by Osso to make their virtual training tool bigger and better. Born has been a leader at Amazon, GE, and Oracle over the course of his work.
